Open to Submissions!

Please read all the information below before submitting your work. If you have any questions that aren’t covered below, please email @losttheplot

What type of submissions are you accepting?

The genre of your story is up to you. I work predominantly on content aimed at over 16’s in SFF but if you have a Young Adult or Middle Grade narrative, please feel free to share.

How do I share my submission?

Submissions are accepted via email. I would prefer submissions from authors who are not yet published but agents are welcome to submit. The format should be double spaced, Word or Google Doc’s up to a maximum word count:

If you’re writing anything up to 45,000 words please send 5,000 words

If you’re writing anything over 45,000 words, please send 10,000 words with a chapter breakdown for the rest of the novel.

You will also need to provide a cover letter that tells me about who you are, where you are with your project, your estimated completion date and how you think I can best support you. If your narrative contains darker themes, please highlight that in your cover letter.

AI will not be used in the selection process.

How many projects will you be working on?

For this submission window, Lost the Plot Creative is looking to publish:

  • An anthology of short stories representing 10 to 15 authors
  • A quartet of Novellas
  • Two full length novels

Please let me know which publication your work will fit in your cover letter.

How much does it cost to submit?

It’s entirely free to submit. If we decide to work together, you will get a publishing contract that includes a minimum editorial cost. You retain the rights to your work and you are under no obligation to purchase a certain number of copies. Lost the Plot Creative will have an exclusive licence to publish and market your work. You will be given time and encouraged to seek your own legal advice prior to signing any contract.

How long is the submission window?

The window opens on the 15th of January and will close on the 31st of March, though I reserve the right to close it sooner if the slots are all filled. I will aim to reply to every submission but if you have not heard back in six weeks from the date of submission, please take that as you have been unsuccessful this time. You are welcome to try again.

What else should I know?

That’s it! Please note that all communications are considered private. No work will be shared or published without clear consent from both parties. All contractual negotiations are private and should not be shared without prior approval.
